Now that we have been in our house for three years, I figured it was time to finish decorating it. Yikes. And of course I went to Pinterest for ideas. While looking around for wall art ideas, I started to notice that people were putting their subway art style sayings onto wood pallets. Hello happiness! Wood grain, and shabby, with words?! I was hooked. In fact, I created an entire board dedicated to wood pallet love.
As you can see, the possibilities for my walls are endless…and now the possibilities for creating cards are endless! So much inspiration!
I started by raiding my paper stash for wood grain patterned papers and my stamp collection for subway art style sentiments. For this card, I simply stamped and heat embossed the sentiment onto the wood grain patterned paper.
Then I grabbed letter stamps to see if I could create my own sayings. Again, I stamped onto the wood grain patterned paper.
When using multiple stamps like this, I find it is easier to lay the stamps out onto the project first. Then push a large acrylic block or stamp press over all the stamps. The block will hold all the stamps in place, exactly where you want them.
Digging deeper into my stash, I pulled out my much-loved and much-hoarded wood grain paper. This paper is thin wood veneer applied to a paper backing. It’s fantastic for die cutting and stamping! I cut the wood paper into strips and adhered them to a piece of cardstock. Then it was pure fun laying out my stamps to create the background.
What do you think? Are you inspired to give the wood pallet look a try? Still not convinced? Come on over to my blog, For the Love of Paper, and check out even more ideas!
