I love the idea of stretching my supplies, especially my stamp sets. So, recently I challenged myself to my own little version of Stamp It! 3 Ways. Here’s what happened.
I started with the Paper Smooches Geobasics stamp set.
This is what we call a “builder” or a “pattern builder” set. I know some stampers that are awesome with sets like this. Me? Not so much. I am a pretty literal stamper, so I knew this would be a good challenge for me.
Enter my first card:
Like I said, pretty literal. But, I like it. I used lots of dye inks, and then hand drew the line for my arrow with a journaling pen.
And card #2:
I am a little braver now. I stamped the hexagons with dye ink, then used a basic set of watercolors to fill them in. I wanted an “artsy” look, so I didn’t bother to stay in the lines. Some spray mist and letter stickers finish this guy off nicely.
And finally, card #3:
Really feeling the love of this stamp set now. I definitely see the “builder” theme of this set now. I created my own quilt pattern and colored it in with markers. Then, I machine stitched over and across the lines to reinforce the quilt motif. This card took a lot longer to create, but I think it will be perfect for a friend who needs a little pick me up.
So, what do you think? Have you ever tried to create three cards (or more) with one stamp set at the same time? It’s a great exercise in creativity. Perhaps next time you feel a card making slump coming on, you will try it out!
