We’re continuing our countdown to World Card Making Day…only three more days! Are you thinking what I’m thinking? That WCMD might be the perfect time to get started on those holiday cards? Yes, that’s exactly what I was thinking!
But what if you’re feeling less than inspired by your stash of holiday paper-crafting products? Or maybe you don’t even have a stash of holiday themed products. Have no fear. A little outside-the-box thinking can turn items in your everyday stash into fabulous holiday cards. Let me show you a few examples.
Although you don’t need a huge supply of holiday-themed products to create great holiday cards, I would recommend investing in a good holiday sentiment stamp set. Find something that suits your style and has lots of different sentiments in different sizes. For my cards today I pulled out my Jingle All the Way set from Technique Tuesday, which has lots of great sentiments that I can use in various ways.
For this first card I paired one of the sentiments from the set with a floral stamp set (Petals and Stems from Avery Elle). At first glance this set doesn’t appear Christmas-y at all, but almost any floral set can take on a holiday vibe when coupled with a holiday-appropriate color scheme.
How about incorporating some trendy travel-themed goodies into a holiday card? This map stamp from Unity Stamp Co. is the perfect companion to the Joy to the World sentiment.
A few diecuts from the Travel Girl collection by October Afternoon are the perfect finishing touch.
I love how just a few thoughtful color or sentiment choices can turn non-holiday products into festive creations. So now you have no excuse not to start cranking out those holiday cards on WCMD. And while you’re at it, you might want to submit a few of them to the Season’s Greetings category of our WCMD Contest!
Oh hey, and if you’re still reading, comment below for a chance to win a handful of Christmas-y stamp sets to really start off your holiday crafting with a punch! I’ll pick three winners randomly! Just leave your comment by Friday, October 4th at 5 pm MDT.
