Well, here it is! The Big Day! It’s a good thing that World Card Making Day rolls around every year, because anymore, that’s the only time that I make cards.
I spend so much time and energy inspiring other people’s card making that there’s not a whole lot of creative energy left for my own. As a result, I don’t always have a lot of supplies on hand, either. But I’ve really been trying to simplify my life, so when I am creative, it’s likely to involve the most basic of materials. Take this year’s World Card Making Day card:
All I used was some patterned paper, some cardstock, and a kraft knife. I wrote “merry merry” by hand on a piece of tracing paper, turned it over and taped it to a piece of white cardstock. I then cut around the letters with the kraft knife and adhered different pieces of patterned paper behind each letter. I mounted the sentiment panel with foam tape and adhered it to my card base. It was super easy, really quick, and about as cheap as cheap ever gets!
And you know what else? It was really FUN to make, too, and I loved how I felt while I was making it. Note to self: Set aside some crafty time every now and then!
I know. I know. You’ve been saying that all along. So here’s to World Card Making Day and the fun we’re all having celebrating!
