It’s time again for the blog series “what I have learned from the Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Go-to Gal.” Today, it’s Kim Kesti who is upping the ante.
I’m always interested to see what Kim creates. She’s definitely got a finger on the pulse of what’s cool and what’s drool. The always bright and cheerful Kim is a multi-faceted designer and can do just about anything from fun and cute to hip and graphic. If you’ve ever seen snippets of Kim’s home or revitalized camper from her blog, you know that Kim’s core aesthetic is a little retro, a little graphic, and a lot trendy. Luckily for us, she shares these same artistic bits and pieces in her card designs as well.
Here’s what I’ve learned from Kim.
1) Retro is cool. Whether she’s using a polka dot pattern, a fun chartreuse and orange color combination, or a retro image, Kim infuses just the right amount of retro in her designs to make her card feel retro but fresh and current as well.
2) When in doubt, go graphic. From her own words, Kim likes to use geometric shapes like arrows and hexagons as they are great for any recipient or occasion. I love tips like this!
3) Try something trendy. Kim is always in touch with the freshest trend and Kim does a fantastic job of finding and using trendy items, colors, and techniques just like she did in creating this card featuring the constellation trend.
Kim definitely ups the funky factor with her cards and I absolutely adore the results. I’ll continue to watch Kim’s work to see what she comes up with next. I’m sure it will be amazing!
P.S. I found this little retro paper package from October Afternoon that was just begging to be given away. Leave me a comment by 5:00 pm on Monday, March 3 and I’ll pick a winner to try their hand at a Kimmer-esque project.
