Here Comes Peter Cottontail

As a child, I had a wind up toy that played the tune “Here Comes Peter Cottontail” as I cranked the handle. It was a metal bunny of sorts and honestly, I don’t remember much about it other than that song. But I would play with that toy for hours when Easter was coming (and I’m pretty sure the adults in my life had that song stuck in their heads for days). I loved, and still do love, Easter. It’s a happy, holiday full of lovely colors and adorable icons. And in case you’ve forgotten, Easter is this Sunday. So let’s get that bunny hopping with card ideas you can make this week.

First up, an adorable place card (that can easily be made into a card instead) from Jocelyn Olson. Grab your favorite pastel patterned paper, cut three bunnies, and add a button bunny tail. Too cute!

Next is the Pretty Easter Eggs card by Emily Branch. This card combines stamping, embellishments, and die cuts to create a sweet card. Plus, this card used the sketch found in the April 2014 issue, so you can use this design for other occasions.

Finally, this elegant card by Kalyn Kepner uses trendy gold to highlight the religious aspect of Easter. It’s simplicity highlights the stamped cross and sentiment, while the punched border adds a layer of softness.

Did this get you in a hoppy Easter feeling? It sure did me! I’m ready for our annual egg hunt, dying a few eggs, and spending time with family and friends enjoying a delicious meal. Hope your Easter is everything you’ve dreamed about.

Have fun creating!

Love ‘em — especially Jocelyn’s place card. I don’t usually send Easter cards, but may have to start, given these inspirational pieces.

Adorable cards. And a very beautiful religious card. And I love your “wind-up toy” story. Brings back very fond childhood memories.
