This past weekend I played tag for the first time in years. I realized why it had been so long about an hour later – running around the yard is for youngsters! Unlike playing tag, making tags is easy. They’re little versions of cards. And like cards, having tags made in advance makes gift giving quick and handmade.

These tags are from the Simple Patterns for Paper Crafting & Scrapbooking special issue. Not only are they cute, but most are made with scraps, so they’re economical as well, especially if you make them while you have your supplies out from other projects.

Piradee Talvanna made her Love You Tag using products from the Crate Paper Close Knit 6×6 paper pad. She kept her design simple with a basic white tag and used lots of scrap paper punched into circles and layered in a swoosh across the tag. With a few additional accents, she created a beautiful tag that can be used for a variety of occasions.

The Just For You Tag created by Betsy Veldman uses products from the Echo Park Paper Beautiful Life collection. Her tag combines two tag shapes – the basic tag for the base with a circle tag as the main accent. Again, layers play a big role in this tag with the doily, butterflies, and circle tag. Combined, they create an elegant tag for a feminine friend.

Gretchen McElveen put together her own “kit” from a variety of companies to create her Celebrate Tag. Her tag uses a rectangle as the base with a banner flag as a main component. This festive design uses stickers and scrap paper to create a cute, celebratory tag that will dress up any package.
