There’s something about the Fourth of July that makes me want to craft up a storm. I force my kids to make starry headbands, and we make sweet treats covered in red, white, and blue sprinkles. Maybe it’s because enough time has passed since the last big holiday or maybe it’s the lingering excitement of summer vacation. Either way, I had to get my summer craft on, for the upcoming holiday weekend, and today I thought I’d share what I’ve created.
I typically stick to a clean and simple star motif when creating for the 4th, but this time I really branched out and used this vintage style collection from Graphic 45, called By The Sea. I like the idea that this ensemble is perfect for July 4th, but it’s equally appropriate all summer long, for a family get together by the lake or a BBQ at the beach.
Using a coordinating product line and some handy dandy dies, helped these projects easily come together. The Sizzix Framelits Pennant dies create banners in a variety of sizes. The pinwheel die, from The Cat’s Pajamas, was the very first die I ever owned, and it is still a favorite! Pinwheels are such fun 3D embellishments and they work perfectly with my seaside summer projects.
You can find all the specific details on these projects over on my blog, Lauralooloo. Pop on over for supply lists, and helpful hints. If you’re ready to create some vintage summer decor, I have an 8×8 pad of Graphic 45’s By the Sea, plus an assortment of the coordinating chipboard and embellishments for a lucky commenter on this post! Leave a comment by 5PM MDT on Friday, July 4 for a chance to win!
