Along with our sister publication Creating Keepsakes, Paper Crafts recognizes the inspiring and healing power that creativity brings into our lives and the lives of others. Embracing the slogan “Creativity Heals”, we encourage our readers to donate their time, creativity and supplies towards improving the lives of others.
Want to know how you can get involved? Click on this post to see how fulfilling (and fun!) giving back can really be. Whether you organize your own benefit crop or simply mail a card to an individual in need, there are countless ways to roll up your sleeves and lend a hand.
Looking for a charity to support? One of our favorites is Operation Write Home. Their mission is to support our nation’s armed forces by sending blank greeting cards to write home on, as well as cards of gratitude to encourage them. As of May 11, 413,112 cards have been sent to deployed heroes! Click on the link above to learn how to get involved today.

I have donted to the operation write home project. It is an amazing way to help support our troops and their families. I’m glad to see you guys backing it up! Plus, it’s a great way to clean up your stash…no hoarding!
Merry Christmas! -
While I do donate my cards to other organizations, I would love to donate
to Operation Write Home. That is so wonderful that this fantastive
magazine backs this up.Merry Christmas

I have also donated cards to Operation Write Home. Parishoners of the church I attended, donated cards and I collected them and mailed them out. A local craft store sponsored an afternoon where one could use their supplies and create cards; it was a fun way to spend an afternoon.
I would like to create cards and bookmarks for women diagnosed with breast cancer. A few years ago, I purchased a set of stamps produced by Stampin’ Up. Paper Crafts magazine had an article on using the stamps to create cards and bookmarks. I want to get some friends to make cards and bookmarks and then donate them to a breast cancer center. That is one of my goals for 2010.

Thanks for supporting Operation Write Home. I have donated nearly 500 cards to this organization because I, too, feel that it is so important to remember our Military who serve so far from home.

I truly beleive that creativity does heal. I found out on March 19th that my 6 month old had brain cancer. What helps me get through this time of recovering from brain surgery and getting chemotherapy is taking lots of pictures and enjoying every moment. When all is said and done, I can go back and make a scrapbook knowing that I made every second count.

I have donated to operation write home and I just want to thank everyone who has or is going too. It is so important to our men and women. My husband was in the army fro sixteen years and when they deploy it is hard on the entire family but I think mainly the deployee because they are in a faraway lonely usually pretty dangerous place, so god bless all of you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. gina Kinde email ginak1117@att.net

You might also want to look into another wonderful organization called chemoangels. Although it doesn’t require hand-made cards, it is a great outlet for those who make their own cards. I have been on both the receiving and sending sides of it, and I can tell you that receiving a card from a total stranger over a period of time is a very healing thing……..here is their website: http://www.chemoangels.net/

Some friends and I get together once or twice a month and make cards for Operation Write Home. Feels good bringing some happiness to others!

I make special anniversary cards to send to my friends who have lost a baby – from miscarriage all the way through the first months of birth. Nothing is so special and important to these Moms as letting them know that even a year or more later, their precious baby is still remembered and not forgotten. Even the tiniest life, no matter how brief, changes our life forever.

I have donated cards to Operation Write Home, and it is a faboulous organization! I’ve also participated in their blog hops to honor our heros serving overseas and home as well!
I taught the art of card making and rubber stamping for two years with Girl Scouts and At Risk Teens in middle and high schools throughout my home county, and now volunteer and do projects with the residents at our local Ronald McDonald House.. another wonderful charitable organization!
